Nothing is impossible under the sun and former actor and dancer turned late night TV host Jojo Alejar has proven that adage as his show “Jojo A., All The Way” lives on in its new home TV5.

“I have a new couch and a new table. I can say that production have spent more for our present set compared to before,” laughed Jojo about his new-found “fortune” at TV5.

If Jojo is happy and laughing, it is simply because he never expected his late night TV show to have a following and survive despite two Goliath TV networks drawing in almost all viewers nationwide with their respective TV shows.

“Actually, I was surprised on how long my show lived. But more than being surprised I was thankful because we did the show because we just wanted to do it. When we started it, we’re not thinking of ratings nor were we thinking of viewership. We were just doing it for the joy of it and then whatever comes it will just be a bonus. It’s doing very well,” exclaimed Jojo.

So what did he think worked to keep his show running?

“Maybe because we were not trying to put up a front. We don’t have pretentions. I just say things as it is. I just say things I want to say and there are many things I want to say. For instance I overheard in a coffee shop and I joked about it also. I heard a group of young women talking, nakita n’yo na ba yung mukha ni Juday sa poster niya, oo ang ganda n’ya parang di na s’ya. They know naman that I’m a no none-sense guy, a comedian,” he explained.

Describing himself a “no none-sense guy,” Jojo pointed out that they try to make their weeknightly episodes as current as possible with events happening in the country as well as the world. For example, they had episodes on Michael Jackson, the King of Pop who recently passed away. And they would tape for a day or two for a whole week’s episode.

“I try to keep it as fresh as possible and issue-oriented as much as possible. So in terms of our subjects, whatever comes up. We also have segments with prominent personalities,” he said.

“I have a list in my mind on who to invite as my guests. If they are available I really go out of my way to call them. But if they’re not, I just let them be,” confided Jojo.

“Amazingly, last week most of my guests called me and most of them were politicians.”

For those still in the dark about the show “Jojo A., All The Way,” it is not only a late night TV show but a “complete package of comedy, informationk, spoof, satire and entertainment.” The segments in “Jojo A., All The Way” are “Anak ng Foto” every Monday where photos of celebrities and guest personalities are morphed to come out with how their child would look like. There’s “TriBya (Trip Biyahe) Rockman ‘n Punk” every Tuesday, “Di Kita sa Camera Café” every Wednesday which is an offshoot of “Camera Café” with an “extra froth of humor.”

Every Thursday is “ToPic of the Night” or “Toking Pictures of the Night” which shows photos of newsmakers and famous people with funny captions and “Utol Ko Bros. Bitay” or “Mr. Groovy” every Friday.

Moreover, “Jojo A., All The Way” also features live performances of bands and solo artists. The show of course has always been the perfect venue for Jojo Alejar to showcase his wit and humor and other “crazy things” that has become the host’s trademark!

“Expect the unexpected and there’s more that can happen every night other than our segments. We have gag segments that talk about issues or a dancer who dances to the tune of current issues like the ‘Insertion Dance’ during the issue that surrounded Sen. Manny Villar. I also have a new character na si Cowboy who made a song about Hayden Kho,” he smiled.

As a TV host, Jojo also regularly watches his show and his reaction, which could be a reflection of how his viewers also feels is “natatawa na naiinis!”

Jojo Alejar is also into manufacturing, a board member of MTRCB and has lately been a favorite host for corporate events.

And why wouldn’t he be, he is now the reigning “King of Late Night Talk Show!”
