Far from seemingly being all consumed by his passion for music, singer Gary Valenciano is a doting dad.

During a lull in the recently concluded 20th year anniversary celebrations of ABS-CBN Foundation, Gary revealed that he is hands on when it comes to his kids.

“I want to be aware of what they do and what their interests are so that I’d be able to lend them a hand,” he said. “I aim to support my kids all the way.”

Even when doing so means letting go of them at times.

“There comes a point where kids won’t be kids anymore,” Gary said. “They would want to spread their wings and I am already prepared for that.”

One of Gary’s sons, Gabriel, also known as “Pure Power” (vis-a-vis his dad’s moniker, “Pure Energy”) is set to leave for and study in the US soon.

Is Gabriel leaving showbiz for good?

“Not exactly – well, I really cant speak for him. For now, that is his plan. As parents, we could only support them and not dictate on them,” Gary said.

Paolo, the eldest of his kids, will stay in the Philippines as with his daughter Kristiana.

“Paolo has a lot of things that keep him busy,” said Gary.. “There’s his band, his commercial ventures…he is working on videos...directing, writing…things I really wanted to do when I was young.”

Kristiana is set to embark on her own singing career.

“We are working on it,” said Gary.
