2 tons of ‘double-dead’ pork seized at QC market
Two tons of double-dead pork meat were seized during a surprise inspection conducted by police and health officials at a market in Balintawak, Quezon City, before dawn on Thursday.
However, SPO2 Felicito Solano of Station 1 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said that police failed to arrest anyone who was handling the double-dead pork.
He said that the hot meat was found already abandoned at around 1:30 a.m. along a sidewalk in EDSA in front of the MC Market in Balin2tawak.
Police arrived there to accompany officials of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and the Quezon City Hall Health Department.
The double-dead pork weighed at a total of two tons and was already chopped in ready-to-cook sizes packed in transparent plastic bags.
Solano said that the surprise inspection was conducted by health officials following information that a new batch of double-dead pork was delivered in Balintawak.
Meanwhile, he said that the NMIS has taken all two tons of the double-dead meat for proper disposal.
