In a seeming bid to avert a repeat of past heartbreaks, hunky actor Alfred Vargas is now dating a non-showbiz girl.

Vargas used to date actresses Jana Roxas and LJ Reyes. Both relationships ended prematurely.

“Mas tahimik ang buhay ko ngayon,” said the actor of his lovelife in a “Startalk” interview on July 11.

Vargas’ new girl is Yasmin Espiritu, a half-Italian, half-Filipino looker.

“What I like about her [Yasmin] most is that she is so unassuming…very simple,” Vargas said.

Espiritu, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Marian Rivera, just graduated from college. She aims to eke out a career in local showbiz.

“She is still testing the waters,” said Vargas.

The actor met the 21-year-old hottie a few months ago through a common friend.

“Her family is from Lumban, Laguna. We were introduced when she had her vacation here a few months ago,” he said.

Is Espiritu “The One?”

“I don’t want to put undue pressure on the relationship…masyado pang maaga. Basta, I’m happy,” he said.

What Vargas is sure of is his plans to run for councilor in Quezon City next year.

He would like Espiritu to join him in his campaigns except that “ayaw ko siyang paarawan kasi ang kinis-kinis niya!"
