Actress Angelica Panganiban revealed that more than the inimitable squeal, the sing-song laughter, and the kolehiyala girl’s intonation, it is Kris Aquino’s wardrobe that is the biggest challenge to her impersonation of the celebrated TV host in “Banana Split.”

“Magpa-pataas na ako ng talent fee [kasi] andami-dami mong outfit,” Angelica told Kris on “the Buzz” on July 19. “Ang hirap-hirap mong gayahin.”

Angelica added that she called up a friend who is a big fan of Kris, for tips.

Even so, Angelica balked at the monumental task. She only dove into it when she saw Jason Gainza’s brilliant imitation of Boy Abunda, Kris’ co-host in “Showbiz News Ngayon.”   

When Jason came onstage that first taping day, I thought Boy himself came to visit us, said Angelica.

In “Banana Split,” Angelica as Krissy has Kris’ mannerisms down pat. Kris Aquino herself also commended the staff of the show for being able to provide Krissy similar clothes to those she (Kris) has worn in “Showbiz News Ngayon.”

A video footage of Krissy in action that was aired on “The Buzz” had people in stitches, especially when Angelica showed off her backless gown the way Kris herself did in one of “Showbiz News Ngayon” episodes.

Angelica’s forthcoming film is “I Love You Goodbye.” To be directed by the multi-awarded Laurice Guillen. It also stars Kim Chiu, Gabby Concepcion and Angelica’s boyfriend, Derek Ramsay.
 
Derek recently gave Angelica a Mini Cooper for their third year anniversary.
