Multi-awarded actress and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos admits that she still thinks of her friend, Superstar Nora Aunor.

“Sometimes I wonder…because we used to talk a lot…well, not so much, but we communicate, alam ko kasi number ng cell niya noon, so, nag-te-text kami. Nagki-kita kami,” Vilma said in a taped interview aired in “Showbiz News Ngayon.”

She is not worried about news of Aunor being in a financial quandary.

“She’s a fighter…I know, there are a lot of news coming out that…pero di ako takot for her, I know she’s a fighter. ‘Di ako kinakabahan…mahal siya ng Diyos…makakarecover pa rin siya.”

According to Santos, she herself experienced having financial troubles early in her career.

“Mismanagement. Alam mo, kami ni Nora noon, kami ang ilan sa mga unang artistang nabigyan ng milyon. Kung tutuusin, dapat may mga subdivision na kami noon pa lang pero…dahil nga siguro bata pa kami, ayun nagising na lang ako na may utang na ako sa BIR, may mga utang ako na…naloko ako, mga ganun.”

Still, Vilma’s faith in herself and in her talent allowed her to regain footing.

“I eventually learned how to handle my money. For a few years, ang ginawa ko, lahat ng kinikita ko derecho talaga sa banko. I was able to recover by doing that. Of course, I learned my lessons na din.”

Though a lot of people are speculating her entry into the national political arena, specifically the vice presidential race, Santos is quick to quash the thought.

“Wala. Wala talaga. My focus is Batangas. I don’t…I am not seeking a national position…no, not at all.”
