Janice de Belen is back in the movies
Janice de Belen essays an interesting role in an independent film billed “Last Viewing” and it is a welcome and refreshing change of pace for the actress, indeed.
It has been a long time since Janice did a movie and it is a good thing she was convinced to stage a comeback in this genre as a mother who loses a daughter with autism in a crowded bargain shopping center.
The movie is titled “Last Viewing” in reference to Janice’s role in the film, that of a crematory supervisor by the name of Laura. The title consists the words she utters emotionlessly in every cremation process she attends to.
Co-starring with Janice in this digital movie are Leandro Baldemor, Sherwin Ordoñez, and Tommy Abuel. Ronaldo Bertubin directs. Script is by Romualdo Avellnosa while Liza Davis is the executive producer of Davis Entertainment Production.
“Last Viewing” opens on Aug. 5 and will hold a premiere night on July 28 at SM Megamall Cinema 6.
Mocha Girls in Dubai
The Mocha Girls together with their band ICE, did a series of successful shows in Dubai last month in four different music bars. The entourage received a warm welcome and overwhelming response from the Filipino Community there who were looking forward to the group’s world-class performance.
The five-day event, from June 14-19, was held at Ratsky Ramada (Continental Hotel); Rockwell Café (Capitol Hotel); Metro Manila Bar (Grand Moov Hotel) and at the Gravity Bar located in Manhattan Avenue Hotel. All venues were jampacked with Filipinos from all over the city.
They simply loved the live entertainment brought to them by Mocha Girls and ICE, composed of four talented musicians namely Mark Anthony Uno (lead vocals/guitars); Erik Glizayriene S. Peligrino (bassist/vocals); Karlo Glicerio S. Peligrino (drums) and Manuel Eugene Raymund Cruz on keyboards.
Regine goes back to Viva
Regine Velasquez goes back to the Viva fold.
She headlines “Most Requested,” a two-night event that will be held at the Skydome in SM North EDSA on Aug. 1 and 8 produced by Viva Concerts & Events. Vic del Rosario, CEO of Viva Communications, Inc. is very much elated over the fact that the famous songbird is headlining a Viva event. “Regine is a Viva star,” says Del Rosario. “She started her recording career with us right after she won in “Hamon Sa Kampeon” in the ’80s. It was also at Viva that she made her successful movies and first hosted talent shows like “Star for a Night.” We are very happy that she is getting these series of Viva shows off to a big start.”
Regine had hits like “On The Wings Of Love,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” “Ikaw,” “You Are My Song” and many others for Viva Records. These hits plus her recent recordings will make up her song line up for the Skydome shows. Her choices are based on the requests she constantly receives from fans during her live performances.
The show will also feature emerging song artist Eva Castillo. She was Regine’s constant rival when they were kids trying to make it via amateur contests. Regine recalled that in all the times they competed, she won over Eva only once. This means that concert-goers will also get the big treat of watching these birit queens “compete” once more on stage.
The Skydome at North EDSA is the newest, happening place for concerts in Metro Manila and Viva has several special shows planned in the coming months. “Most Requested” will be followed by “Back2Back” featuring True Faith and South Border on Aug. 7 plus Basil Valdez and Joey Albert, “Ladies of the ’90s” (Geneva Cruz, Jessa Zaragosa, Rachel Alejandro and Roselle Nava), Rachelle Ann Go, and Jed Madela and many others.
Tickets are available at all SM Ticketnet outlets or Viva Concerts and Events.
