Maybe for the first time ever, the song “Tie a Yellow Ribbon” was sung during a Mass.
This was during the healing Mass held for ailing former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino at the chapel at the De La Salle University on Taft Avenue in Manila, which temporarily took on yellow as the school colors with yellow ribbons adorning the posts inside the campus.
Bro. Armin Luistro, president of the De La Salle University, said the singing of the "melodramatic song" was meant to commemorate Aquino’s fight against the regime of former President Ferdinand Marcos and her role in the restoration of democracy in the country.
