The meaningful roles in society and the spiritual leadership among the religious faithful of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC ) were cited on Sunday by lawmakers, governors, mayors, and other government leaders as they wished it more power and success in its religious missions in 90 countries s around the world on the occasion of its 95th anniversary today now called “Iglesia ni Cristo Day” under Republic Act 9645.

The leaders, led by Rep. Annie Rosa L. Susano, principal author of the resolution of the House of Representatives that later became RA 9645, said INC serves the spiritual as well as the material needs not only of its flock, but of many other marginalized Filipino families in the Philippines as well as abroad.

Susano, who represents Quezon City’s second district where INC’s main Church, executive offices, and the New Era University are located, said that through its countless continuing missions and outreach programs on education, youth development, family counseling, and community extension, INC bestows on the people lasting spiritual legacy.

Other leaders – Rep. Francisco T. Matugas of Surigao del Norte, Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro, Governors Casimiro Ynares Jr. of Rizal and Suharto Teng Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat, party-list Rep. Godofredo V. Arquiza of the Coalition of the Associations of Senior Citizens, and Reps. Pax S. Mangudadatu and Arnulfo F. Go of the first and second districts of Sultan Kudarat, respectively, - said INC has remained at the forefront of spiritual evangelism, goodwill, cooperation and harmony.

Matugas, Ynares and Rodriguez said today is another milestone for INC having sustained continuously the spiritual nourishment and support to millions of its faithful in various parts of the world.

They said at this time of political divisiveness, national and local leaders must look up to INC as an epitome of unity.

Susano expressed the hope that the celebration of future INC’s anniversaries will be declared non-working holidays because like Ramadan, “Iglesia ni Cristo Day” is observed by millions of people in the Philippines and abroad.
