Singer-actress Jolina Magdangal is currently dating Rivermaya’s founding member/drummer Mark Escueta.

This she admitted in a recent interview, adding that “there is something (going on between us) but it's not something, ‘something.’”

“I like his attitude (and) I think he is quite sincere. I like that he has shown great respect for my parents (because) that is important to me.

“He’s a great guy.”

Magdangal broke up with longtime boyfriend, lawyer Bebong Muñoz, early this year. Rumors have it that a third party was involved.

Though she declined to comment on the matter, Magdangal claimed she has “moved on.”

“It’s finished. Done. I’m starting anew.”

And what did she learn from that relationship?

“Of course, love for self, first and foremost. Not that I didn’t love myself at that time but, it’s just that I kind of …wasn’t able to see what’s going on…what’s really happening,” Magdangal said.

“That’s how I am. Even when I was younger that’s what I do. I put greater importance on the happiness of others more than my own.”

As for rumors that she is “making sweet music” with former beau Marvin Agustin, Magdangal simply laughed.

“It’s all work for us,” said Magdangal. “We’re just used to being sweet to each other but more than that…no, there’s nothing. Marvin and I are just friends.”

Although both celebrities in their own right, the pairing of Magdangal with Escueta in terms of the music each does, may be described as disparate.

Rivermaya’s music, especially at the onset of their career, has been considered edgy. Some of their songs such as “Shattered Like,” “214,” and “Ballroom Dancing” prove so.

Magdangal’s musical inclination, on the other hand, is pop through and through. Some of her hits such as “Tameme,” “Laging Tapat,” and “Chuvachuchu” have endeared her to the masses.
