Young actor Rayver Cruz inadvertently let on that he was not invited to the birthday party of pop star Sarah Geronimo last July 25.

When asked by a “Showbiz News Ngayon” reporter about Sarah’s party, Rayver’s surprised reaction was caught on camera.

"Ah, may birthday party ba?" 

Rayver quickly recovered by adding, “Basta ang importante, tinext ko siya ng happy birthday."

The actor has no material gift for the birthday girl.

"Ang birthday gift ko sa kanya ay…lagi akong nandiyan para sa kanya kahit na ano'ng mangyari, promise. 'Pag kailangan niya ng kausap..." he said.

Reacting to a tabloid report that stated they (Sarah and Rayver) had to stop their budding romance because the pop star's father discovered it, Rayver said, "Ang totoo, hindi ko siya naging girlfriend. Hindi rin naman talaga ako nanligaw formally.”

“Talagang friendship lang na naging mabuting kaibigan. Ang sa akin lang, wala akong masamang intension (para sa kanya)."

The issue, Rayver said, has not affected his friendship with the pop star.

"Okay naman kami. Nagkakausap kami, nagte-text."  

A few weeks back, some fans of Sarah Geronimo lambasted Rayver for seemingly choosing to court actress Melissa Ricks over Sarah whom he was paired with at first.

Both Sarah and Melissa denied that Rayver is courting either of them. Each said that she would be happy for Rayver if he ends up with the other.
