Public viewing for late President Aquino started
Yellow confettis together with rain showers poured over the oval field of De La Salle-Greenhills, as the remains of the late President Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino arrived there late Saturday afternoon.
After the former President passed away around 3:18 a.m, her body was immediately brought by her relatives at the Heritage Park in Taguig City where Mrs. Aquino’s body was embalmed and formally dressed.
Around 3:55 p.m. her casket was brought inside the De La Salle-Greenhills Campus, where the honor guards from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) gave her a full military salute even as the rain continued pouring down from the dark sky.
During the arrival honors, several prominent personalities aside from the late President’s family were present escorting the casket of Mrs. Aquino. Among them were former Senate President Franklin Drilon and NBN-ZTE star witness Rodolfo Noel “Jun” Lozada. Members of the La Sallian Brothers and Scholastican nuns, who were President Aquino‘s main supporters since the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, were also seen. They continued praying the Rosary while the casket of the late President was on its way inside the LSGH Gymnasium, where a huge crowd of people from different sectors was present.
Bishop Teodoro Bacani, another Aquino supporter, celebrated the Holy Mass before the casket lied in state inside the gymnasium.
Hundreds of people started to fall in line along Gate 5 of the LSGH Campus as early 2 p.m. to have an opportunity to see the deceased former President for the last time. The gate for public viewing was opened at around 5 p.m. on Saturday
The remains of the former President will remain at the LSGH Gymanasium until Monday morning and will be transferred at the Manila Cathedral until her internment on Wednesday.
