The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Calabarzon (Region 4-A) won first prize for best booth during the Philippine International Flora and Fauna Garden Exhibit at the World Trade Center, Pasay City recently.

Dubbed “Protecting and Sustaining Nature”, the exhibit was organized by the RPN Flora and Fauna, Inc. aimed at promoting the preservation of the flora and fauna in the country, including the environment.

The exhibit was participated in by Calabarzon 4-A and the 16 other DENR regional offices in the country.

Inspired by the Kanan Watershed in Quezon province, the Calabarzon 4-A booth displayed numerous endemic plant species ranging from mangrove, hardwood, ferns, and ornamental plants.

What attracted the judges’ attention were the presence of live birds such as a Kalaw (Rufous hornbill), a pair of Philippine scops owls, and a Philippine eagle owl perching on the branches inside the booth.
