Pimentel looking forward to seeing Kris in Senate
Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. is looking forward to seeing television host Kris Aquino in the Senate and her brother, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino Jr., in Malacañang.
Pimentel said Kris is far more qualified and deserving of a Senate seat and he has no doubt she would be a good senator.
“Kris is better than some of those elected in the Senate,” Pimentel told reporters in an interview after the “Kapihan sa Sulo” forum in Quezon City. He did not elaborate.
At the same time, Pimentel said he sees a future president in Sen. Aquino.
“Noynoy is even right for the presidency not just vice-president. This will make Mar nervous,” he said and smiled.
But the veteran opposition lawmaker said there is no reason for Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II to worry because it seems that Noynoy would not run for higher office yet.
“Siya (Noynoy) na rin nagsabi na hindi pa siya handa,” he pointed out. Both Senators Roxas and Aquino belong to the Liberal Party. Roxas is the party president and standard bearer in the 2010 elections.
Kris’ statement during the requiem mass for their mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, last Wednesday gave rise to speculation that she might run for senator while her brother for higher office.
