Three nabbed in shabu 'tiangge' raid
Anti-narcotics agents of the Negros Occidental Police arrested three people in a raid in what they described as a little shabu tiangge in Victorias City, a local police spokesman said Saturday.
Arrested were Corazon Junsay, 52; Danilo Dela Pena, 42, an electrician with the Victorias City Hall, and Florentino Duenas, 29.
Chief Inspector Rico Santotome, spokesman of the Negros Occidental Police, said the operation started as a simple buy-bust against Junsay and a certain Michael Sombero who was tagged as a notorious drug peddler in Zone 5 in Barangay 6 in Victorias City last Friday night.
Sombero managed to elude arrest after sensing a bust but the arrest of Junsay led to the discovery of the police that her house has been serving as a drug den. “Policemen arrested Junsay inside her house which was later proven to be a drug den after several illegal drugs paraphernalia like aluminum foils and empty plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu, improvised lighter, bamboo clips and plastic straws were recovered in two makeshift rooms,” said Santotome.
“An elongated transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride worth P500 was likewise seized from the drug den maintainer, who charges P10 for the use of the rooms per session, P600 cash believed to be proceeds from her illegal drugs activities aside from the drug paraphernalia,” he added.
