Revillame faces raps at MTRCB

Embattled TV game show host Willie Revillame, who is now being assailed for his outburst over the insertion of a live coverage of the late President Cory Aquino’s funeral entourage in his game show “Wowowee”, is being investigated by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for making allegedly unethical comments in the same popular noontime show that reportedly caused serious emotional distress in the children of an estranged couple.
In a signed affidavit filed with the MTRCB, the woman complainant – who requested anonymity for security reasons – said that 48-year-old Revillame teased her estranged husband, identified as Raymond Ronquillo, about his romantic links with Aiko Climaco – a “Wowowee” dancer – during show aired last March.
“May kaibigan ako gustong magpakilala sa iyo. Mabait ito at binata daw siya. Siya si Raymond Ronquillo, may ari ng auto shop (I have a friend who wanted to be introduced to you. He claimed that he is a nice person and unattached. He is Raymond Ronquillo…who owns an auto shop,” the complainant quoted Willie’s statement over Wowowee.
Her three daughters – aged three, 11, and 12 – saw Willie made the statement on TV, prompting her to take counter steps to avert possible negative emotional effects on the youngsters by telling them that those lines were mere jokes.
The mother then just dismissed it as “unfortunate” incident, hoping that it will not happen again.
A few days later, Revillame also greeted the complainant and her children on air that gave her hopes that he will not again issue unethical words that could affect them.
On July 28, however, Revillame threw another remark on Roquillo who was then present at the studio at the live broadcast of “Wowowee”.
Then present in the studio, Revillame told viewers that Raymond had been separated from his wife.
While the camera focused on Ronquillo, Revillame allegedly commented: “Yan si Ramond.” After a few seconds, Revillame blurted out, “Yan si Aiko,” referring to the game show dancer who is being romantically linked to the car dealer.
“Yan ang ex-girlfriend ni Raymond. Di Bale, kumita ka (Aiko) naman. (She is the ex-girlfriend of Raymond. It doesn’t matter since you’ve raked money),” the TV host was quoted in her affidavit
Claiming that she has evidence to prove that Ronquillo and the game show dancer were still romantically linked, the complainant said that Revillame’s uncalled for remarks were hurtful to their entire family on the face not only to the entire nation but also to the international viewers then watching Wowowee.
Other than Revillame, named respondents in the complaint were ABS-CBN Corporation and Climaco.
The complainant is seeking the cancellation of broadcasting permit or license the noontime show for alleged violation of certain provisions of the MTRCB Implementing Rules and Regulations, particularly for its failure to provide wholesome and reinforced positive values for the young audiences.
