Pacquiao- Cotto fight tickets to cost $1,000
Tickets to the November 14 showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto will go on sale on August 17.
But 4,000 to 5,000 will be made available to the public since a chunk of these coveted tickets have already been purchased in advance by the casinos, said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, whose promotional outfit Top Rank is staging the welterweight battle at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Tickets will be priced at $1,000, $750, $500, $300, and $150 and Arum expects the 17,000-seat Grand Garden Arena to be filled due to the magnitude of the event.
To maximize the pay-per-view earnings, Top Rank is bringing the two fighters and key members of their entourage to a four-city promotional tour starting with the kickoff event at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 10 in New York and followed by stops in Puerto Rico on the 12th, San Francisco on the 13th and Los Angeles on the 14th.
To save on costs, Arum said they will do away with the hiring of a private plane as they will fly commercial from point to point. In the past, Arum had to lease a private jet for their comfort and convenience.
Cotto has started training in Puerto Rico under head trainer Joe Santiago and is keenly awaiting the arrival of the touted conditioning coach Phil Landman to jumpstart training proper.
While the most crucial phase of training will begin only on September 19 — the day Team Cotto arrives in Tampa, Florida — the Puerto Rican slugger has opted to work out a sweat to prepare himself for what will surely be the hardest camp he’ll go into.
