Popular radio personality DJ Mo Twister is said to be causing a bit of a rumpus at his radio station Magic 89.9 because of a raise he admitted to have received last April.

According to rumors, the raise amounts to nearly P300,000 monthly which DJ Mo denied in a recent interview.

“I can’t really talk about it [salary] in exact terms…management might not like it…but no, I am not receiving that big an amount,” he told Manila Bulletin Online.

The DJ added that he hasn’t heard any complaint--personal or otherwise--regarding his salary.

“Nobody has called my attention to it – I mean, we do have twenty DJs in our station - and I have not heard nothing from anybody.”

He said he is “clueless” on how the rumor began but that “there might be one or two people” who fueled it.

“But, see, I really don’t care [if they did].”

DJ Mo said he “deserves” the pay that he gets.

“I’ve been with the station for so long…since I was practically a kid… and I think somehow management considered my loyalty to the station a big consideration in giving me [such a] raise.”

Aside from being “the most senior” DJ  in Magic 89.9, he said that his show’s ratings have been constantly good and that it gets advertisers.

“All these must amount to something,” he said. “Those who question the raise should look into my track record.”

In a separate interview, DJ Mo admitted that there were offers for his services from other radio stations. They were tempting, said he, but he stayed with Magic.

DJ Mo became popular for his radio program “Good Times with Mo,” with Mojo Jojo and Grace Lee. The show broadcasts a segment called "Forbidden Questions" during which celebrity guests are asked to reveal their secrets.

The program, as popular as it was, earned him enemies in showbiz, chief among them writer-host Cristy Fermin and Jobert Sucaldito.

Does DJ Mo consider any of the two as most likely to have spread the malicious gossip?

“I don’t think so. I don’t think they’re capable of thinking something like that…maybe something [foolish] as having mushrooms growing out of my ears but not that.”
