Rain or Shine, fresh from a morale-boosting fourth-place finish in the Fiesta Cup, boosted its frontcourt rotation for the coming PBA All-Filipino Conference by acquiring veteran Mark Clemence Telan.

According Raymund Yu, one of the team owners of the team – the other is Terry Que – the 6-foot-7 Telan signed a one-year deal with the Elasto Painters on Tuesday.

Though Yu refused to divulge the exact figures in Telan’s contract, a Rain or Shine insider disclosed that the 33-year-old former Coca-Cola player will get close to P3.4 million in 12 months.

Both Yu and Que were equally excited with their latest acquisition since they expect Telan to bring in his leadership and provide stability to the team.

“We’re now almost complete, what we need now is to have a chemistry,” said Que.

The former La Salle center first played for the now-defunct Tanduay in 1989 where he was one of ‘direct hire’ players of the team.

“His inside presence will be a big factor in our campaign this year, we have been longing for a big man who can provide us instant offense and with Telan around, we hope we can make it to the semis again,” said Yu.

Telan, who also suited up for Shell, Talk ’N Text and Air21 (now Burger King) before, is the third newest player for Rain or Shine after signing up rookies Jervy Cruz and Marcy Arellano.

With Telan around, Rain or Shine will now have formidable frontline as he joins Jay-R Reyes, Fil-Am Gabe Norwood, Mark Isip, Cruz and Eddie Laure. Other members of the team are Sol Mercado, TY Tang, and Ryan Arana. – REY LACHICA
