Going back to your roots and looking at the simplest of things can bring renewed interest and inspiration. This is what happened to Danish couple Henrik and Charlotte Jorst 20 years ago.

The couple made a pilgrimage to the small village of Skagen (pronounced ske-yn), an artists’ retreat noted for being one of the  most peaceful places on earth, with its long, pristine beaches that face the North and Baltic seas. The Jorsts, appreciating the simplicity of the village, created Skagen Designs timepieces, after the town.

Known for their ultra-slim and signature mesh bands have commanded a great number of fans the past 20 years in Denmark and Germany, where they are among the top watch brands. Expanding internationally, it also has concept stores in Tokyo and Taipei  and boasts some 5,000 retailers in more than 60 countries.

To commemorate its 20th year, it recently released a special, limited-edition collection with the Jorsts’ signatures at the back of each case. Skagen also has added a jewelry and sunglass collection to its roster of accessories.

In the Philippines, Skagen timepieces are available at Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, Robinsons Ermita and LTime Studio stores.
