Go light, feel light!

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but when it comes to braving the city’s vibrant party scene, being light-stylish is the way to go!

How many times have we seen ladies strutting precariously in high-heeled stilettos and micro mini dresses? Or girls in little black dresses and designer jewellery barely able to move as they hide those flabby arms?

Here are a few tips on developing a positive, “light-style” so you can get the most out of your night life.

• Go light on makeup
. Whether you are gifted with translucent skin or not, never party with nary a color on your face. Going out in style means enhancing your looks with the right amount of cosmetics.  French women are incredibly sexy because they tend to highlight just one feature and go easy on the rest.
Decide if it’s dabbing on that ultra-red lipstick, sporting the smoky-eyes look, or settling for the blushing cheeks effect.  You can never tell when the camera is rolling so make sure you don’t look pale or piled up—unless the party theme is Stage Play or Halloween.

• Wear light-to-look at clothes. Was it the poet Kahlil Gibran who once said your clothes hide not the unbeautiful?  Sure, there may be countless contradicting rules in fashion, but certainly all schools of thought unanimously preach that wearing whatever you can pull off is timeless: Be it the little black dress or its closest contender, the little white dress; dressed-up jeans with a sexy camisole,  or that plain-hued bottom matched with a velvet jacket or a dressy wrap.  If you’re going to be a “distraction”, make sure you’re a good one!

• Exude a light aura
. The most common advice that we hear from celebrity models is this:  be confident.  Defined as “the degree to which you like and value yourself,” self-esteem is a precious commodity nowadays, especially among women who feel they have less because they want more.  So stop comparing yourself with the cover girl on your favorite glossy mag.

Head held high and accepting that every woman is unique, acknowledge your own beauty and learn how to compliment others.   Your date will surely feel that he’s lucky to be with a woman who has a positive self-image and an amiable aura.

• Share light moments. As much as possible, skip stressful, work-related topics.  But if the situation calls for it, refrain from bad-mouthing your boss or griping about a sour deal.  Make sure you inject witty humor in your stories. But don’t hog the limelight—let your date or gimmick buddies have their say too. Mahaba-habang inuman means more light moments!

• Choose your destination well
.  Aside from your outfit and your party companions, this is the single-most important choice you have to make.  Don’t just follow the crowd. Pick a place that fits your style, your present mood, and the type of entertainment you want.

(Tips from San Mig Light, the country’s leading low calorie beer in making that choice easier, especially for girls who want to be light, feel good, and stay beautiful.)
