Lawyer in Dacer case to withdraw motion
The lawyer of the three accused in the 2000 Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and driver Emmanuel Corbito double murder case, who earlier sought the inhibition of the judge handling the case, disclosed its move to withdraw their motion.
Lawyer Dante David, the legal counsel of Senior Police Officer 4 Marino Soberano, Senior Police Officers 3 Mauro Torres and Jose Escalante, said they are withdrawing the motion for inhibition before Judge Myra Garcia-Fernandez of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18.
“I realized that she was right when she allowed (Cezar) Mancao II (former police Senior Superintendent) for purposes of determining whether he deserves to be discharged or not.” David told reporters.
The lawyer said they decided to withdraw after they reviewed the transcript of stenographic notes during the court hearings.
“The fact that he (Mancao) was allowed to testify does not mean he will be removed from the case. The court still has to evaluate,” he added.
