ZAMBOANGA CITY – Rep. Erbie A. Fabian (2nd District, Zamboanga City) disclosed that the government peace panel has scheduled a meeting with him to get his suggestions, recommendations, and proposals as inputs for the ongoing peace negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

According to Fabian, Wendell Orboso of the Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process, called to inform him about the important meeting slated on August 25 that will be held in Manila.

Fabian said he will urge the government negotiating panel to be transparent and be open for dialogues and consultations and most importantly to make sure that Mindanao leaders are well consulted on important issues regarding the peace talks.

“We’re glad that the government peace panel will be meeting with me and this will be a great opportunity for me to reiterate the stand of Zamboanga City on any move that would include it in any form of expanded autonomy or any kind of juridical entity,” Fabian said in an interview.

The lawmaker said he would also convey to the peace panel the request of the city council to have a permanent seat in the government negotiating panel.
