Isolated from family, woman shoots self dead in Quezon City
Isolated by rift with her siblings and children since she separated from her husband and had an affair, a woman shot herself dead in her home in Quezon City last Monday.
Police identified the suicide as Mary-An Barcelona-Coles, 43, a resident of Unit 40 Lot 25 Block 20 Yuan St., Phase 8, Barangay North Fairview.
PO2 Norlan Margallo said the woman died at 1:06 p.m. Monday at the Far Eastern University Hospital from a fatal gunshot on her right temple.
The investigator said the woman allegedly shot herself inside her room at 8:50 a.m. Monday using a .22 caliber Walther PPK handgun.
The woman’s son, Ron Ron, told police that he was ironing his clothes when he heard a gunshot from his mother’s room and was shocked to find her sprawled on the floor.
Margallo said the son told him that the gun belonged to her mother. In the meantime, he has asked for documents to determine ownership of the weapon.
The son said Coles has been depressed for the past few days. The woman reportedly had a rift and was not in speaking terms with her siblings as well as her children.
Police said the woman had been separated from her husband for sometime and recently had an affair with an Air Force colonel.
