There are unpublished things about the late Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. that only his wife, the late former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, can reveal. But with Cory’s recent passing, a documentary from award-winning director Jun Reyes is one the nation’s better ways to discover Ninoy through the eyes of his beloved wife and ally.

Reyes’ 1.5-hour-long documentary titled “The Last Journey of Ninoy” is set for special screening at the Powerplant Mall in Makati City this Friday in time for the 26th national day of commemorating Ninoy’s assassination back in August 21, 1983.

Screening schedules are set at 7 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. at the Powerplant Cinema. According to Noriel Barrio of the iamninoy Youth Movement, admission to the screening is priced at P300 per ticket as proceeds of the film showing will be turned over to the Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. Foundation.

Meanwhile, the Makati City government is awaiting applications for rally permit from groups who intend to stage demonstrations at the Ninoy Aquino monument located at the corner of Ayala and Paseo de Roxas Avenues.

Last year, the August Twenty One Movement, commonly referred to as ATOM, led civil society groups in commemorating the Ninoy Aquino day through a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument.

The ATOM was formed shortly after Ninoy’s assassination at the tarmac of the then Manila International Airport. His brutal slaying was instrumental in prompting the Filipinos to stage the 1986 People Power Revolution that toppled the Martial Rule of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
