Eastwood gets model police station
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday opened its 12th police station in the vicinity of Eastwood City which it boasts as among the few model police stations in the entire country.
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte said that what was once an eyesore because of illegal settlers living there is now the site of a modern police and fire station worth emulating along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue.
Belmonte said a police station was needed in the area since “Eastwood City is the most important and modern features of Quezon City.”
He said the site, which covers 2,520 square meters was the property of Ortigas and Company and was donated in 1976 for use by the local government.
Belmonte said he plans to upgrade and modernize other police stations in the city. He cited the new building being constructed to house Police Station 5 in Fairview.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego said that Station 12 would do “the greatest good for the greatest number of people.”
He admitted that he was among the police officials who supervised the removal of informal settlers there.
Meanwhile, San Diego assured that people at Eastwood City that they can have fast responses to fire incidents and calls for police assistance.
