Petron Corporation has expanded its export market base to five countries, primarily for fuel additives on diesel and gasoline products, according to company president Eric O. Recto.

The core export markets already enlisted by the domestic oil giant include Cambodia, South Korea, China, Australia and Indonesia.

The company noted that “exports of various petroleum and non-fuel products to Asia Pacific countries” had been among its revenue drivers, helping it to log a net income of P1.81 billion in the first half.

Cambodia is already considered a traditional overseas market for Petron-branded lubes products such as Ultron and Rev-X; while Indonesia had always been eyed as potential expansion hub.

The fuel additives, on the other hand, are being drawn from the Subic blending plant which the oil firm operates. The facility is its tie-up venture with chemical specialty firm Innospec.
