Malacañang on Friday pledged the full cooperation of the Presidential Security Group in the investigation by the House of Representatives on the alleged violent dispersal of hundreds of protestors at the Palace gates on Wednesday.

Press Secretary Cerge Remonde assured that the PSG would “definitely” cooperate in the House probe even as he appealed to the Lower Chamber to investigate with “transparency.”

“We welcome a very transparent investigation para naman po makita po ng lahat ang katotohanan sa mga pangyayaring yun. Tayo po ay nasaktan din na merong nasaktan sa pangyayari na yun,” he said, in a press briefing.

Remond rushed in defense of the security forces explaining that it is their “to also react, to respond accordingly.”

“Definitely po, ‘yung mga bagay na ‘yan ay di n’yo makikitang mangyayari sa White House.”

The chairman of the House committee on human tights believed the authorities used excessive force in dealing with student activists who staged a lightning rally in Malacañang last Wednesday.

“Based on reports, I believe there was an excessive use of force considering the injuries the students suffered,” Quezon Rep. Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III said.

Tañada added that the authorities did not follow maximum tolerance in arresting the students protesting President Arroyo’s lavish dinners in the United States.

But Tañada could not say for now if his committee will probe the incident, although he said he was happy that the police already released those they have arrested.
