A Quezon City councilor proposed an ordinance requiring provincial buses, cargo trucks and delivery vans whose terminals are located in the locality to prominently display the word “Quezon City’’ in their windshields.

Councilor Bayani Hipol of the fourth district of Quezon City said that the proposed measure aims to give the rightful recognition to where the garage or terminals of the vehicles are located.

He noted that people of the far-flung provinces often mentioned that they are taking the public utility buses (PUB) going to Manila well in reality they will be alighting in one of the terminals of Quezon City.

Instead of displaying the names of streets, barangays and malls, Hipol said that it is only proper for the bus and cargo truck and delivery van companies to identify their points of origin and returning end points to provide fame and recognition to Quezon City.

But Hipol said that city buses, delivery trucks and similar vehicles exclusively operating in Metro Manila are exempted from complying with the proposed ordinance.

“Kadalasan may mga provincial buses pa na ang nakalagay ay “Cubao’’ o “Ali Mall’’ ang kanilang destinasyon imbis na Quezon City. Dapat naman sigurong makilala sa lahat na sulok ng bansa ang ating lungsod,’’ Hipol added.
