University of St. La Salle captured the PCSO Invitational Women's Inter-Collegiate Beach Volleyball Challenge by beating Ateneo recently at the Cantada Sports Center in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.

The Ilonggo pair of April Ross Hingpit and Patty Jane Orendain outclassed Ateneo de Manila's Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado, 21-9, in the finals of the dual tournament organized by Joe Cantada Sports and backed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Toyota-Otis, Toyota-Balintawak, Tanduay, Lucio Tan Jr. and Mapecon with ZestAir as the official airline.

"I heard they were determined to compete here despite the bad weather the past weekend. And we're glad they came and gave us one heck of fine beach volleyball. We congratulate, too, the other participants for making this event a success," said Edgardo "Boy" Cantada of the organizing Joe Cantada Sports.

The other teams in this by-invitation-only tourney were Ateneo de Davao, Central Philippine University (Iloilo), Far Eastern University; University of Mindanao-Tagum City, University of the East; Letran; Adamson, World Citi College, and University of the Philippines.

Like in the recent Mayor Tinga Cup youth boxing championships also organized by Joe Cantada Sports, all the participants were housed at the Cantada Sports Center.
