Councilor cries foul over protests vs ordinance
Claiming to be a victim of a black propaganda, a Quezon City councilor cried foul after protesters identifying themselves as members of a labor group that staged a rally in front of the official’s residence in protest over his pay parking ordinance.
Councilor Jesus “Bong’’ Suntay of the fourth district of Quezon City said last Tuesday his neighbors at Mariposa Townhouse in barangay Crame informed him that a group of eight to 10 individuals alighted from a passenger type jeep and started their protest.
The group which claimed to be members of the Partido ng Manggagawang Pilipino called for Suntay to come out of the house but the councilor had already left for City Hall.
“From what I heard from the house boy of my neighbor, it lasted for roughly 15 minutes just enough time for pictures to be taken and to give interviews to the crew of news reporters which they invited to witness the protest action,’’ Suntay said.
Suntay questioned the motive of the group saying his political adversaries are riding on the controversy of his proposed measure since the pay parking ordinance has nothing to do with the advocacies of the labor group.
