Power coop to hike rates
Bacolod City – Once the Energy Regulatory Commission approves the petition for the P2 per kilowatt hour rate increase of the National Power Corporation, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) plans to charge an additional amount of 60 centavos on top of the approved rate.
This means consumers will be paying an additional amount of P2.60 per kwh, according to Engineer Jose Tadlas, head of utility economics of CENECO.
He said the P0.60 add-on amount is based on the generation mix which is composed of a maximum of 13 percent systems loss and 12 percent VAT.
It also includes the incremental currency exchange rate adjustment or ICERA and generation rate adjustment mechanism (GRAM).
However, Tadlas said the P2 power rate increase being asked by the NPC is not 100 percent subject to VAT. Tadlas said they are applying the formula of automatic generation rate adjustment (AGRA) by the ERC adopted by all electric cooperatives in the country.
