Tarlac City seen to retain Gawad title
Tarlac City — Tarlac City Mayor Genaro “Aro” Mendoza has expressed optimism that this city will be able to retain its title as “Business-Friendly Metropolis.”
The mayor based his optimism on the various programs benefiting traders here launched by his administration.
The conferment of “Business-Friendly Metropolis” awards is a joint project of various agencies aimed at encouraging local government units to promote culture of excellence in dealing with entrepreneurs and taxpayers.
In a recent meeting, Mayor Mendoza instructed City Cooperative and Enterprise Officer Marvi dela Cruz to ensure the city government submits the requirements in conformity standards set by the Gawad Parangal sa mga Local Goverment Units Commitee.
In the past years, Tarlac City had been consistent awardee both on the regional and national levels as business-friendly LGU due to its programs improving and streamlining the system in the issuance of business permits through the one-stop shop policy.
With the creation of the Internal Quality Control Unit (IQCU) with Dela Cruz as officer and the establishment of the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), the revenues collected yearly by the Tarlac city goverment have increased by average 15.8 since 2004.
