After 12 weeks of eliminations, the top two bands (Joint and Beer) will face off in an exciting finals night Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in Manila Ocean Park’s The Bandstand.

Joint, a six-piece band is headed by vocalist Pow Chavez, a finalist in the “Philippine Idol” talent search while Beer, a four-piece band, is fronted by Beer Araneta with members coming from the University of Santo Tomas’ College of Music.

Both bands have different music specialization or genre. Joint’s flexibility and ability to give each song their own flavor in every competing round is what made them reach the finals. Beer’s tightness in the rhythm section and their talent in musical arrangement are their strongest assets which propelled them in the face-off round.

Joint and Beer will battle it out on stage to win a whooping P100,000 cash prize, P100,000 gig contract with Manila Ocean Park and a recording deal with Sony Music Philippines. The first runner-up will get P50,000 in cash.

Last week, pop rock band Summer Guijo was proclaimed as the second runner-up. They will be awarded with P25,000 in cash during the finals night together with the grand winner and first runner-up.

Given the task to judge the top two bands are The Bandstand’s resident judges – singer songwriter/record producer Eugene Villaluz, former vocalist of Put3Ska and Brownbeat All Star-turned-solo artist Myra “Skarlet” Ruaro, and Jeffrey Hidalgo, original member of the phenomenal singing group Smokey Mountain who is now a solo artist, stage actor and music video director.

Manila Ocean Park’s The Bandstand is open to the public for free and is sponsored by San Miguel Brewery, Sony Music Philippines, MYX (Your Choice, Your Music), Bobson, Wave 89.1, Jam 88.3 and 103.5 Max FM.
