Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos

Very soon, GMA-7 will be introducing two of the network’s most popular and bankable artists as a brand new love team via the launch of the Philippine version of the popular Koreanovela “Stairway To Heaven.”

Many are quite excited over the team-up of Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos for this soap opera. When we first heard of it, we were actually intrigued because Dingdong and Rhian when paired together somehow gives off a different flavor. There are team-ups that make your eyebrow raise for the sheer absurdity of it but the Dingdong and Rhian love team has a different feel to it. It will be interesting to watch the many possibilities as it unravels when the union comes to fore.

Dingdong’s team-up with his real life “girlfriend” Marian Rivera has been very successful and was able to capture television audiences at its peak. It is bound to stay that way.

Now that Marian is enjoying her lease as a top-rating “Darna,”  Dingdong, as every actor should find ways to reinvent himself,  tries new grounds. Rhian, we think will broaden Dingdong’s already established reach. Rhian, for her part, has her share of loyal fans and her undeniable bankability could only work for the love team.

Both Dingdong and Rhian share this image of being smart, intelligent, sexy, good-looking, well-educated and well-bred actors. It’s time to see where this image takes them as they tackle lead roles in “Stairway To Heaven” which will air very soon on GMA-7.

No marriage plans yet for Toni and Paul

Toni Gonzaga says she and boyfriend director Paul Soriano have not been talking about marriage.

“I’m only 25 now. Siguro when I am 30, pag-uusapan na po namin ang marriage,” she said with a laugh.  The two have been a couple for three years now and Toni summarizes these years as mainly “very good.” “We have not really fought major fights. Like all couples, we have had the usual tampuhan but more often it’s about schedules, nothing major at all. Over all, it is a good relationship. Tahimik,” she added.

Schedules are really the contention as Toni is still as busy as ever. Aside from her weekly television shows, “E-Live” every Saturday and “ASAP” every Sunday, she juggles time between movies and concerts.

She is currently shooting for the new movie starring former Pres. Joseph Estrada and Ms. Ai Ai Delas Alas. “I play the role of their daughter here. Playdate I think is on October. The working title is ‘Ang Tanging Pamilya.’”

Aside from that, Toni is in the thick of her nationwide concert tour “Toni Gonzaga… Level Up” which kicked off last Aug. 21 in Cagayan De Oro. Her next performances will be on Sept. 18 at La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City; Oct. 2 here in Manila (venue to be announced soon); Oct. 16 at Holy Cross in Davao City; and Oct. 30 at the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City. The concert is directed by GB Sampedro (not Paul Soriano), and is co-produced by Ming’s Pei Pa Koa and Made To Dream Production.

When asked how come Paul was not directing the show(s), Toni said, “para walang loveteam. Walang distractions,” and then she laughed. “No, kidding aside, my relationship with Paul inspires me. Reason is we got direk GB long before pa. Maybe in the future shows, Paul will be able to direct me,” she said.

Toni said they have prepared a totally different show for this nationwide tour. “We took the best parts of my past concerts and infused new songs in the concert repertoire, mostly from the new album we’re coming out with.”

After the concert tour, Toni will be seen again hosting the popular reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” on ABS-CBN.
