Kris asks public to give Noynoy time to decide
Kris Aquino, youngest daughter of former President Aquino and Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., asked the public to give her brother Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III more time to decide on his political plans.
She made the reactions following reports that her brother will announce his political plans on Sept. 9, 2009, the 40th day of the death of their mother, President Corazon C. Aquino.
“It’s not Sept. 9. I believe it’s beyond that. Napapag-usapan na rin namin magkakapatid ang tungkol dito but in the meantime, let’s give him more time to reflect on his political plans,’’ Kris said during her live entertainment show “SNN’’ aired over ABS-CBN Thursday night. The show is co-hosted by Boy Abunda.
Several groups have urged Noynoy to run for vice president in the May 2010 elections while others encourage him to gun for the presidency. A non-government organization has launched a one million signature campaign asking the senator to run next year.
“Ano man ang decision n’ya (Noynoy), I will support him. We are so thankful for all the support you have given to my brother but he will announce his political plans soon,’’ Kris said.
Deedee Siytangco, former spokesperson for President Aquino, said that the Aquino children are also appreciative about carrying on the legacy of their parents.
On reported plans about a film on her parents, Kris said that no movie stars have yet been chosen to play the role of his father.
“But we want Piolo Pascual to play the role of my dad. So far nothing is definite yet about the movie.’’
It was earlier reported that Cesar Montano will play the role of Ninoy Aquino in the planned movie. But Kris explained that they lost communication with the award-winning actor.
“We lost communication with him when he ran for the Senate under the administration banner.’’
Siytangco believes that the Montano film has been shelved.
“When Tita Cory was still alive, she really gave the go-signal to make the Aquino film. But plans have changed when Montano became a senatoriable.’’
Kris also said all is well now with her family and controversial TV host Willie Revillame. The actress said Willie went to their house and brought toys for her children.
Asked by Kris if he is running in the May 2010 elections, Willie reportedly said: “Pinag-iisipan ko nga.’’
Unconfirmed reports said Revillame is being courted by Senator Manny Villar to become his running mate in the 2010 elections. Villar will be the standard bearer of the Nacionalista Party.
It would be recalled that the Aquino family and Revillame had a misunderstanding over the live coverage of the funeral of President Aquino last August 5, 2009.
Revillame went on vacation after the controversy regarding his unsavory comments about the live coverage of the transfer of Mrs. Aquino’s remains to the Manila Cathedral, which was shown while “Wowowee” was airing.
