Yahoo! announced the appointment of Jack Madrid as General Manager of Yahoo! Philippines. Based in Manila, Madrid will strengthen Yahoo!’s position as the place where millions of Filipinos and the world go every day to see what is happening with the people and things that matter to them most.

Madrid will also be working with Yahoo! Philippines’ direct sales team to help marketers reach Yahoo!’s audience through the most unique and compelling advertiser proposition in the Philippines marketing industry.

“Madrid is a strong business leader and I have no doubts that he will help lead Yahoo! Philippines to new heights,” said Ken Mandel, Vice President and Managing Director of Yahoo! Southeast Asia. “I am confident that he will not only grow Yahoo!’s leadership in the Philippines but the country’s online industry too,” Mandel added.

“I am looking forward to leading Yahoo!’s charge in creating ‘Wow’ experiences for its users and growing the firm’s advertising leadership in the Philippines,” said Madrid. “The Philippine online industry is growing very rapidly with online Adspend growing a further 20% by next year, proving that marketers are keen to grow their business through the online channel.” added Madrid.

Madrid, a Philippine national, spent the last nine years of his career in senior leadership roles with some of the most well-known companies in the country including holding the Managing Director position for Ayala Corporation and later the Managing Director for MTV Philippines.
