The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) launched Saturday a campaign against unregistered motor bancas operating across the country.

According to PCG Commandant Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo, the continuous operation of undocumented
motor bancas poses danger to their users since most, if not all, are not complying with existing safety regulations.

Inter-island sea ferry mishaps, which have led to the death of passengers and crew members, were also largely attributed to undocumented and unsafe motor bancas.
