Actor Cesar Montano is a gifted fellow who has shown well his skill to excell in different fields.

Though he is best pictured as an actor, he is definitely more than that. He has been trying almost everything within his range and far beyond acting: TV hosting, film directing, singing, endorsing, and running, well, for a political post.

While others are trying hard proving they’re good at work somewhat totally apart from the one the public best associates them to, Buboy, as he is fondly called by close friends, seems to make things look easy and working out. He is not one to drop something he is doing to accommodate a new challenge.

In a well-attended presscon (at Bellissimo Italian restaurant in Scout Castor, Tomas Morato) for his new commercial endorsing Mega Sardines, Cesar talked to the press discussing various topics that basically have to do with his life. It just proved that he is a busy man taking care of different things in  his capacity as a talent with know-how skills guided by heartfelt principles.

“Kung maganda ang intention mo and you’re fighting for something good, do it,” implied the partner of another famous face, Sunshine Cruz.

Now frequenting Visayas almost every week, Cesar assured he is 99.5% running for governorship of Bohol in next year’s national election. Hearing the tone of his voice he is dead serious in helping the place and, according to him, fight against graft and corruption. “Gusto ko pong tulungan ang Bohol at maging maayos ang lahat,” he noted.

Asked if he’d drop acting if ever got elected, he replied, “Definitely not. Film is one of the more powerful mediums and I want to show Bohol through film clips. I would want to be the father of Bohol and continue making films as well.

Cesar is set to direct a movie about Francisco Dagohoy whose leadership led to an 87-year revolt against the Spaniards starting from 1740s – the longest uprising in Philippine history.

At present, he has been getting praises for his effort as host of ABS-CBN’s “Singing Bee.” And take note, he is planning for a follow-up to his CD “Subok Lang” which is bound to be called “Pasubok Ulit.”

Based from  a Mark Lapid movie

The new Mega Sardines TV ad features Cesar in an action-comedy sequence that delivers the famous comical line “Buti pa ang saging, may puso.” Folks behind the camera said it was inspired by an excerpt from a film of Mark Lapid which to some extent has become a YouTube favorite.

The banana heart connection is due to the “healthy heart” campaign of Mega Sardines which contains Omega 3 fatty acids that’s known to lower blood cholesterol and keep the heart healthy. Convinced from the start that he is pushing for the right product, Cesar said, “I encourage the public to live a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising regularly.”

Mega Fishing Corporation, producer of Mega Sardines and the first company in Asia to use fish pump technology, takes pride that it only needs 12 hours to accomplish the “catching to canning” process, ensuring the freshness of the fish. Mega is now exported to over 40 countries including the USA, Canada, and those from Europe.

The informative and entertaining commercial is tailor-made for Cesar considering he has a good reputation as an actor who can do well with serious action and comedy. It also emphasized the use of the now-familiar expression “May Ganon!” (as pun to “Mega”) which is generally acknowledged as having been popularized by Energy FM DJ Mr. Fu.

In an exclusive chat with Mega Fishing VP Sales and Marketing head Mark Tiu Lim, he revealed, “We opted for Mr. Fu to be part of the cast. But it turned out that the theme of the commercial is Spanish and Mr. Fu has slant eyes so he’s not fit for the role which eventually went to one of the directors who uttered the expression.”
