City officials tackle good governance

Valenzuela City barangay officials attended over the weekend a comprehensive training-seminar designed to make them understand the scope of their duties and responsibilities as elected government leaders.

The seminar which was initiated by Liga ng mga Barangay President and Councilor Alvin “Isko” Feliciano was also made in line with the program of the government to promote good governance from the top level of the bureaucracy down to the lowest level of the government.

Feliciano told barangay officials that it is vital that all village officials understand the scope of their duties and responsibilities as elected leaders in addition to knowing the proper procedures in preparing their barangay resolutions and ordinances Lawyer Danilo Diaz also explained in details to all attendees the numerous ways to improve barangay governance and efficiency for the benefit of their constituencies.

Also present during the occasion were Mayor Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian, 1st District Congressman Rex Gatchalian, lawyer Adel Tamano, who represented Senator Manny Villar; and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Secretary General Jessie Cruz.

During the seminar, Feliciano also led in the the distribution of health insurance to the barangay as part of LnB's improvement of the benefits of barangay officials.

Feliciano said that in addition to upgrading the knowledge of barangay officials, seminars such as this provides relevant information that could help them perform better their duties and responsibilities especially in extending public service.

“Patuloy tayong magbibigay ng panibagong kaalaman sa ating mga barangay officials nang sa gayon ay lalo pa nilang mapabuti ang pagbibigay nila ng serbisyo sa kanilang mga nasasakupan,” Feliciano added.
