TACLOBAN CITY — Leyte province’s emerging opportunities and existing capabilities for trade, commerce and industry will take center stage as the provincial government here, along with the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) prepares for the third staging of the Leyte Provincial Business Month celebration in October.

The event will be marked with high impact activities aimed at creating awareness on business opportunities in Leyte led by, among others, the province’s capabilities in information and communication technology (ICT), tourism, small and medium enterprises – all of which will be highlighted in the 3rd Leyte Provincial Business Month.

Leyte and Eastern Visayas' largest business organization, Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), is spearheading the celebration, underlining the development of information technology, tourism and small business sectors and attracting investors to those industry areas particularly, in the province.

To assist and inspire micro, small and medium enterprises, activities such as industry and media forums as well as various business seminars will be conducted by the Chamber. Leyte Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla said the event can open more doors of opportunities for the province in terms of more investments and job creation.

“Ever since the Business Month was conceptualized and given life through provincial legislation, we always have in mind how a similar event or celebration has advanced the economic and job opportunities of our neighbor Cebu,” according to Petilla.

Hopefully, he added, this yearly celebration could chart the same economic and tourism growth for Leyte province.

The Leyte governor was referring to the Cebu Business Month initiated by the Cebu provincial government some years back which is seen as instrumental in Cebu’s growth as a trade and industry center in the country.

Leyte has been continuously promoted amongst foreign and domestic visitors alike by Petilla as an alternative investment destination in the Visayas.
