UAP teacher, partner killed during robbery
Two foreign independent film journalists were killed after they chanced on armed robbers upon arriving home in Quezon City Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, chief of the homicide investigation unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), identified the victims as Canadian Alexis Tioseco, 29, and his girlfriend Slovenian Nica Bohinc, 30.
Online information cited Tioseco as a faculty member at the Arts Department of the University of Asia and the Pacific, and editor-in-chief of Criticine, an online journal of Southeast Asian Cinema.
Bohinc is said to be a freelance film journalist and programmer who currently works as European Content Provider for SEA Images, a webpage focusing on film collaborations between Europe and Asia, founded by ASEF – Asian European Foundation.
Elenzano said the victims died on the spot after being gunned down inside their home at No. 39 Times St., Barangay West Triangle, Quezon City.
Police suspect that the couple’s new maid helped the suspects gain entry to the residence.
Elenzano said that they are now tracking down the couple’s new maid who was only identified as a certain Criselda, 46, and the three male suspects involved in the robbery-homicide case.
He said that the suspects took the couple’s Ford Lynx (CPW-329) and valuables from the house.
