John Lloyd Cruz’s advice to Luis Manzano

The silence from showbiz couple Luis Manzano and Angel Locsin is loud enough to speculate that their break-up was painful and bitter. And some members of the entertainment press allegedly even became victims of the backlash wherein he was said to have remarked “I don’t have to answer that,” referring to questions about his fallen relationship with Angel.
When asked about John Lloyd’s reaction to such story, he said that it is inevitable to shun away from the press about an actor’s broken relationship. It is something one would face one day in his career or personal life.
“I regret to hear na ganun yung approach pero siguro dahil mahirap pa yung pinagdadaan nila. Naiintindihan ko siya pero siyempre iba-iba naman kami. Siguro that time na natanong ninyo siya it’s hard pa rin,” he commented. “I cannot speak for them especially my friend Luis. When I also broke up with my girlfriend, I asked your respect and for a little time na pagdating ng panahon mas masasagot ko ng diretso and malinaw yan na walang paligoy-ligoy. And usually you would honor my requests.”
He added that as “public figures” or “public personalities,” there’s that feeling of owing an explanation to the public and the entertainment press at times.
“It is something na hindi mo maiiwasan… we owe it to the press also kasi alangan namang lalapit lang kami sa inyo kapag may kailangan kami,” he quipped.
One thing he also learned from his past break-up was to keep quiet about his ex-girlfriends to stop talks or speculations about their pasts. An example was with his recent failed relationship because according to him, when they had a chance to talk again, his ex was complaining that she was still hearing news or talks about her and John Lloyd. And the only way he could also appease her was to promise that he would talk less or not anymore about her.
With regards though to his rumored break-up with alleged girlfriend Ruffa Gutierrez, John Lloyd explained, “Hindi nangyari yun kasi hindi naging kami!”
At the moment, John Lloyd is enjoying his single life and is not eyeing any woman in particular to woo and win her heart. He believes in fate – when love comes, it will come at the least time he expects it to arrive!
No need to worry though about love at the moment since John Lloyd Cruz is one busy and in demand celebrity endorser. Recently launched as the image model of Cherry Mobile, he has more important things to dip his hands into like his upcoming movie “In My Life” under Star Cinema with Luis Manzano and Star for all Season and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos.
“We are all hoping that our movie does well in the box-office,” he shared. “Hindi kami pwedeng maging over confident dahil pelikula ni Ate Vi or it’s a film by Olive Lamasan. We still have to work hard to promote it so we can invite more people to watch it sana kasi ang ganda ng story and it is really something new and yung tema makaka-relate ang mga audience namin.” He said that the movie has a lot of reasons for people to watch it.
“We really have a very good story to tell. Punong-puno yung pelikula. Yung story pa lang busog na and set pa sa New York City, so kapag manunuod ka what a treat na yung pinapanuod mo ang ganda ng story and ang ganda pa ng visuals mo so dun pa lang... Pero tingnan natin kung hindi sila ma-hook dun sa characters namin,” he smiled.
So how does it feel to also have a strong chemistry on screen romance with another guy like Luis Manzano?
“Ito yung klase ng chemistry that we were able to create with the help of our director Olive Lamasan. I feel blessed na hindi lang sa babae ako nagkakaroon ng chance magkaroon ng chemistry kahit pala sa lalaki,” chuckled John Lloyd who stressed that he would take an indefinite vacation from such roles in his acting career.
As to the much-talked about “John Lloyd-Luis kissing scene,” he is crossing his fingers that viewers would go beyond such image and empathize with their characters instead.
“To some it looked like a kissing scene but our lips just brushed. It’s really hard to explain kasi very intimate and emotional yung eksena at yun ang gusto naming makita ng mga tao or ma-transcend sa mga tao… pag tinitingnan ko si Mark (Luis’ character) ang nakikita ko yung love ko. When I look at him as Mark I look at him with love and I see my love so ganun yung treatment,” he stressed.
“In My Life” opens in theaters nationwide on Sept. 16, in Los Angeles, Alex Theater on Sept. 26; Fox Theater, San Francisco on Sept. 27; Landmark Lowes, New Jersey on Sept. 30; Telus Convention Center, Calgary, Canada on Oct. 3; and at the Queen Elizabeth Theater at Toronto, Canada on Oct. 4.
Next movie for John Lloyd Cruz is a love triangle with Bea Alonzo and Angel Locsin also under Star Cinema.
