More youths in Mindanao have expressed their support to former President Joseph Estrada if he decides to run in the May 2010 elections.

“The support of the Davao youth shown in the MyERAP assembly is a clear indication that Mindanao youth will support former President Joseph Estrada’s bid for presidency next year,” MyERAP Davao spokesman May Martin said.

Martin made the statement after the MyERAP assembly commenced a wide chapter formation last week, followed by a general assembly last in Davao City recently.

“The chapter formation in key schools in Davao City was a success. It was indeed a delightful experience to witness the Davao youth actively participate for MyERAP’s cause,” MyERAP leader Lloyd Zaragosa said.

“The turn out of the MyERAP general assembly here in Davao was overwhelming. Key city schools were represented and hundreds of student leaders participated and took their oath of membership for MyERAP,” Zaragosa added.

Martin said that people can now expect that students involved in the youth group will become more active to support Estrada in 2010.

“The formation of Davao chapters as well negates public perception that President Estrada is not an acceptable candidate for the youth. In fact, MyERAP is now gaining ground as we are flooded with requests for membership from various schools in other cities in Mindanao,” she said. Martin hopes that the wide chapter formation would inspire more student leaders around the country to start their own chapters within their area.
