BoC to use Internet-based import system
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Bureau of Customs (BoC) at the Zamboanga City Port is set to use the new Internet-based Import Assessment System this month where the importers will no longer need to go to the BoC office – where they only need to go on-line to transact their importation requirements.
Customs District Collector Rodolfo Campos said, “all transactions will be through bank-to-bank machines, “where there will be less corruption and no red tape.”
At present, the system is for the importer to go to the office, fill out forms and pay the customs duties and taxes.
Campos said that with this new system, “what you see is what you pay.” This means you will only pay the lawful tax collection.
This month, the importer will only need the Internet to transact business and a legitimate broker.
The services which can be accessed through the Internet are lodgment through Value Added Service
Providers (VASP), Client Profile Registration System (CPRS), Licensing and Clearance System (LCS), Electronic Manifest System (EMS), Selectivity (SEL)/Hold and Alert System (HAS), Formal Entry System (FES), Warehousing Entry System (WES), Payment Abstract Service System version 5.0 (PASS 5), Non-Cash Payment (NCP) consisting of tax exemption, Import Entry Declaration (IED) for Advanced Duties, Tax Debit Memo (TDM), Deferred Payment of Government Accounts and On Lone Release System.
