One of the primary suspects in the murder of Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez, Manuel Jimenez, remained in the custody of the police in Angono, Rizal as the Malabon-Navotas Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 170, which issued the warrant of arrest, failed to receive him due to the suspect's physical condition.

Moreover, Malabon-Navotas RTC Branch 170 presiding Judge Hector Almeda was not around due to floods that swamped the justice building, preventing him and other judges as well as employees from reporting to the office.

Earlier, the Angono police claimed that Jimenez was rushed to the Angono Medics Hospital after complaining of chest pain shortly after he surrendered to the police after hearing that a warrant of arrest had reportedly been issued against him and his brother Lope.

He surrendered to Angono police chief Supt. Rommel Estolano last Friday.

Almeda issued a warrant of arrest against Jimenez for murder and recommended no bail for his temporary liberty.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) earlier filed murder charges against Jimenez; his younger brother Lope, who owns the Buena Suerte Jimenez Fishing and Trading Co; Manuel Montero, who confessed to participating in the killing and testified for the Barrameda family; Eric Fernandez, Spyke Discalzo and Roberto Ponce.

The DoJ investigating panel, however, cleared Ruby Rose’s estranged husband, Manuel Jimenez III; and another accused Rudy de la Cruz.
