Northern Samar Bishop Emmanuel Trance has called on authorities to investigate and bring to justice the killing of Fr. Cecilio Lucero.

Fr. Lucero, rector of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Catubig town, was killed in an ambush on Sunday while on his way to Catarman.

The priest, who is the brother of Northern Samar Vice Governor Antonio Lucero and former Northern Samar Congressman (2nd District) Wilmar Lucero, is also the Chairman of the Diocesan Committee on Human Rights and Justice in the province.

“As in other killings, I join everyone in asking government officials to get to the bottom of this extra-judicial killing which has claimed the life of one of our priests,” he said. Trance said authorities should investigate the killing of Lucero. (With a report by Aaron Recuenco)
