The Taguig City government, in cooperation with the Gawad Kalinga, will award free housing to 300 informal settlers in Laura Drive, Barangay Bagumbayan.

Members of the first Laura Drive Neighborhood Association headed by its president, William Payot and 326 families in the neighborhood were thankful with the help extended by Mayor Sigfrido Tinga who led the groundbreaking last week together with the GK Entertainment Village.

Tinga said the project is a continuing commitment of the city government to the less fortunate city residents especially the city’s legitimate informal settlers to give them a decent way of living through providing new homes.

“Mahalaga ang ganitong disente at murang pabahay para sa mga mahihirap nating kababayan upang tumaas ang tingin nila sa kanilang mga sarili. At ito ang magiging daan sa tuluyang pagbabagong buhay,” Tinga said.

Tinga also said that the project is the first GK in Barangay Bagumbayan with the help of their partner, Shirley Maya Tan, chief executive officer of Malaysia-based Revolver Asia.

He said Revolver Studios is a full production house making different kinds of videos like documentary films, commercials and music videos.

Known Filipino directors working with the company include Erik Matti, A/F Benaza, Jun de Leon, Mike Talampas, L. Joel Bohol Jr., Nick Santiago, and Topel Lee.

Tan, for her part, said that she is happy to be in the country and to give help to those who want to have a decent home.
