Actress-TV host Kris Aquino has vowed to work doubly hard to raise funds for her brother, Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who has decided to run for president in 2010 only last Wednesday without the benefit of a long-term preparation.

Kris, youngest daughter of former President Corazon Aquino and Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., said in an interview Wednesday night that she will work doubly hard to come up with campaign funds for her only brother.

“Kailangan magtrabaho akong mabuti para makalikom ng pondo para sa kapatid ko. May mga oras na nasa kampanya ako for my brother, pero hindi ko pwedeng iwanan ang trabaho ko. We will support our brother all the way,’’ she told ABS-CBN News moments after her brother announced his presidential bid Wednesday morning.

She also announced that she will be on a 10-day leave from work to be with her family after the 40-day mourning for their mother, who passed away last August 1.

During the live telecast of “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN): Cory Aquino: Isang Paggunita” aired over ABS-CBN Wednesday night, Kris became emotional again over the outpouring of public support for their parents.

She thanked the public who continued to visit the gravesite of their parents, offering flowers and cards.

“Ang daming tao who truly went out of their way just to send flowers for Mom and Dad. Kung baga, ‘yun na lang ang panggastos nila pero still nag-alay pa rin sila ng bulaklak. Thank you so much,’’ she said.

Kris also talked about her relationships with Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, her brother’s girlfriend, and another TV host, Korina Sanchez, fiancée of Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

On Soledad, Kris said she only knows her for less than a year, but said the councilor is a nice girl and her children like her, too.

“Apart from several lunches we had, hindi pa kami ganun ka-close.’’

“Where he (Noynoy) is happy, who am I to stand in the way of happiness?’’

Aquino said she now holds the ring for whoever Noynoy will eventually marry.

“My mom gave this ring to me. Para sa akin daw ito. Dad gave it to my mom. Kung wala na sa akin ang ring, na-kay Noynoy na po ito.’’

On Sanchez, whom she considers a long-time friend, Kris said she has texted the award-winning broadcast journalist “if we can love each other again.’’

Communication between the two TV personalities, who used to have a morning talk show together, went cold when Roxas sacrificed for Noynoy for the 2010 presidential elections.

Moments before the end of the show, Aquino said Korina has texted back.

“Finally, our communication line is open.’’
