Toni Gonzaga mourns the death of ‘Tanging Pamilya’ crew member
Actress-singer-host Toni Gonzaga was among those who were saddened by the demise of cameraman Fernando Estrada.
Estrada was among nine who perished in the ill-fated Superferry 9, which sunk off the coast of Zamboanga City, morning of Sept. 6.
“It’s unfortunate (what happened to Estrada)... (The industry) is going to be different without him. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. It’s sad,” Gonzaga shares.
According to Gonzaga, she had the chance to work closely with Estrada a few days before the accident.
“He worked the camera when I did an interview with Mommy Dionisia (Pacquiao),” she says.
Estrada was with a 29-man strong Star Cinema contingent who went to shot part of “Tanging Pamilya” – a motion picture that features Gonzaga, Sam Milby, Ai Ai de Las Alas, Joseph Estrada (no relation), and Dionisia Pacquiao—in General Santos City a few days prior.
According to reports, the crew traveled by sea, as they had with them many of the props used in the movie including costumes and a car that the movie’s lead actor, former President Joseph Estrada, used in several scenes.
The film’s stars, including Gonzaga and director Wenn Deramas, left the city by plane.
